EXPERIENCE
Your Emma Atelier cakes journey - from ordering to delivery
THE PROCESS
Reaching out
You have booked your wedding venue - the excitement begins. Your cake journey starts with reaching out to me, by email or through my Contact Form. I would love to hear any initial ideas you may have for your wedding style, any decorative elements you are considering for your wedding cake and your hopes for your special day. After I have received your enquiry, confirmed my availability and gained a clearer sense of the type of design you might want, an approximate price can be given. Please allow me up to 48 hours to respond.
Consultation & Fine Artist Designs
The next stage is booking in an Emma Atelier Cakes Online Design Consultation. Your consultation will last 30-45 minutes and take place on the Zoom video platform. It is an opportunity for us to explore together your potential wedding style and how your cake can blend beautifully with the elements of your day, options for cake designs and sugar work details, flavours and much more. The consultation is approached as a relaxed collaborative chat and a way of unlocking your vision for your wedding cake. I am here to answer any questions you may have. Following the consultation, I will send through my Terms & Conditions and a completed Design Consultation Form for you to read and approve; I can also confirm your price. To continue your journey, I ask for a non-refundable £100 booking fee (deductable from the final balance) to secure your date. Once I have received your booking fee, your very own Fine Art Cake Designs can be sketched - I usually provide 3 design options for your cake, aiming to email you these fully bespoke drawings within 1 week (in high wedding season it may take longer). You can study your design options, advise me of your choice and if any adjustments are needed - an extra revised sketch shall be created, upon request.
Cake Tasting Experience
Following your Design Consultation and once you have paid the booking fee to secure your date, I shall send you the Wedding Cake Samples box. You can uncover more details about your beautiful tasting experience here.
The Wedding Cake Samples box is complimentary for couples who have booked Emma Atelier Cakes as their wedding cake maker and paid their booking fee to secure their date. Alternatively, you can order the box before booking, which is charged at £40 (including Next Day Delivery); if you then decide to book me to make your cake, I shall deduct the price of the samples from the total cost of your Wedding Cake.
Finalisation
I shall contact you, usually through email, approximately 6 weeks before your wedding day, to confirm you are still happy with your chosen design. The remaining balance is required to be paid in full 1 month before the wedding day.
Delivery
It is your Wedding Day! You can relax knowing Emma Atelier Cakes will safely deliver and set up your cake at your venue and that it will look flawless in it’s chosen location. I shall liaise with your Wedding Planner, Stylist and Florist and any other wedding professionals involved in your wedding process where necessary, to ensure everything goes smoothly. The delivery of your wedding cake shall likely take place in the morning of your wedding day before guests arrive at a time agreed in advance with your planner and venue.

OTHER INFORMATION
When should I place an order?
Luxury cakes require planning and I request as much notice as possible for a cake order. Wedding cake orders generally require a minimum notice of 6 months at present, although I recommend booking earlier to guarantee availability!
How do you price your cakes?
My cake prices are calculated based on the ingredients I have used, the time I have taken to bake and decorate a cake and the skill level required to complete the decorative techniques. My signature sugar floristry, floral painting and royal icing piping work can be time consuming and it has taken me many years to learn and refine it, reflective of my cake prices. I only use the highest quality, organic where possible, ingredients available, again, this is reflected in my prices. Ultimately, the price of your cake will depend on the complexity of the design and the size you require. Take a look at my Cake Prices page to get a clearer idea of my pricing and how it links with sizing and portions.
Do you cater for particular dietary requirements?
I cannot offer vegan cakes or gluten free cakes currently, but plan on being able to do so in the future. I am unable to make cakes with a low sugar content or cakes suitable for people with diabetes at this time.
Do you take on orders for non wedding cakes?
I am also able to make cakes for birthdays and other such special occasions. However, novelty cakes are not my speciality and I am therefore unable to take on orders for this type of cake. Additionally, I regret I cannot take on order requests involving edible printing or artificial/silk flowers (rather than fresh or sugar flowers). I create my own designs and therefore do not produce exact copies of cakes by other designers.
Do I need to put down a deposit?
Once you have decided to book me as your cake designer, I require a £100 non refundable booking fee in order to secure your date. The full bespoke design process cannot begin until your booking fee has been received.
How does wedding cake delivery work?
I deliver my wedding cakes (and favours, if applicable) to Bristol and it's close surrounding areas only at present (within a 40 mile radius of my address). I will deliver and set up your cake at your venue and this is the safest and highly advised option. My Delivery & Set Up service has a FROM charge of £45 plus mileage at 65p per mile and travel at £20 an hour. Cakes being decorated with fresh flowers are usually considered more complex set ups, as it can take considerable time to prepare stems ready for safe insertion into the cake.
Do you hire out cake stands?
Cake stand hire is available for my wedding cakes. I have many beautiful stands and a stand befitting the style of your cake will quite simply make it look even more spectacular! If you would like to hire one of my high quality cakes stands, a security bond totaling the cost of the stand chosen is required to cover any potential loss or damages, which is refunded once the stand is returned and if it isn’t damaged in any way. Cake stand hire is £15 for up to 5 days, after which time you will need to return it to me at an agreed suitable location and time.
Allergen info - Are your cakes suitable for people who have food allergies?
Since my cakes are produced in a small kitchen that use NUTS, EGGS, MILK, SOYA, SESAME, GLUTEN and ALCOHOL, I cannot guarantee that a particular product is free from allergen traces. There is always a risk that a product has come into contact with allergen items. Therefore, I regret my cakes are unsuitable for people with food allergies and intolerances. Please contact me if you have any specific questions/concerns about allergens.
